Try to think of the nicest thing anyone has ever said about you. What comes to your mind? For most people, it was probably something like how nice you are, how kind you are, or maybe even how good looking you are. One word that may not have come to mind is “faithful,” but that might be one of the greatest compliments anyone could ever receive.
This is one of the primary characteristics of a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Christ followers are faithful to God and to others. They are people of integrity, who follow through on their commitments. Paul instructed Timothy to look for faithful people to share in the work of the Gospel.
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses
Entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
-2 Timothy 2:2
Faithful does not mean the disciple is absolutely perfect, but that he or she is willing to let God lead his or her life.
Can you imagine what it will be like to one day hear Jesus call your name and say, “Well done, good and faithful servant…” No compliment is greater.
