I walked down the Mount of Olives, into the valley, then up into the old city portion of Jerusalem. Eventually, I arrived at the stone floor where it is believed Jesus was tortured. There is even an imprint of an ancient game where, perhaps, the soldiers cast lots for Jesus’ garments. I reached down and touched the cold stone slab and reflected on what Christ did for me.
But He was pierced for our transgressions;
He was crushed for our iniquities;
upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with His wounds we are healed.
- Isaiah 53:5 ESV
