God arranged a divine appointment for me through a sermon called, “Prayers Prayed and Decisions Made.” It was a regular Sunday morning worship service and, admittedly, I didn’t have any special expectations for the day.
Psalm 72 is David’s prayer for his son Solomon. David prays that his son will be a worshiper, a wise man, and a wealthy king.
God answers, and Solomon thrives.
Solomon builds the temple, and God fills it with His presence.
Solomon becomes known as the wisest person in the world.
Solomon even receives 25 tons of gold—not grams, but TONS—each year.
Indeed, David’s prayer was answered in abundance, and for years, Solomon’s decisions reflected his prayers to God. Unfortunately, the story does not end here.
Later in life, Solomon did not fully follow God (I Kings 11:16). His actions failed to align with his prayers, and his downfall was great. He died a bitter man who finished life poorly.
When the sermon ended, I sat and asked myself a question, “Do the prayers I pray and the decisions I make agree with one another?”
How would you respond to the same question? Do your decisions mirror your prayers? Or do you pray for one thing but then do another?

the courage and strength
to live wisely and obediently.
As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever... I Kings 9:4-5
God’s passion for His people can not be extinguished. Do you embody this same passion?
